He ran for 300 against us. He was a human highlight film. I played 12 years of football through college and in all those games and practices he was the only football player i was afraid to go one on one against, not because of pain (he delivered lots of it) but because of the MANY, MANY ways he might make you look like a clown in front of everyone you know- drop a crushing shoulder or leg into you, Juke you out of your socks, outrun you and back then he would jump over you in open field too!

He even played some cornerback too. I caught a curl in front of him and turned upfield (he guessed the wrong direction and he flew right by me but caught a hold of my jersey with one hand and literally tore my jersey in half as he power threw me on my back.
then he was 5'6" 230lbs and FAST. Great guy too.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-450671078779081202.post-47460824365121288242010-09-01T12:41:15.520-05:002010-09-01T12:41:15.520-05:00It's awesome to hear from a relative or friend...It's awesome to hear from a relative or friend of Cougar greats. My brother and I were in the Junior Cougar Club and we always sat in the endzone right above the Cougar entrance. The team was really fired up that night. UT received the opening kick and fumbled. We scored a TD two plays later. UT answered on the next possession but Johnny Jackson scored 3 TD's on picks. Randy Thorton scored on another pick. Many stunned and angry UT fans after the game. After the game at home HSE kept showing the replay and we stayed up all night watching over and over. But I do like the Olympics so I've watched several documentaries on them. I'm a particular fan of the Bud Greenspan's Olympic documentaries.

Of course, the 1972 Olympics may be the most fascinating for so many reasons. The terrorists attacks. The games in Germany for the 1st time since Hitler's Olympics. The basketball game. Mark Spitz. Olga Korbut. Frank Shorter's marathon and the fake runner at the end. Vasiliy Alekseyev was a beast. The documentaries The 1972 Munich Olympic Games: Bud Greenspan Remembers is great viewing. Also One Day in September is also worth seeing. Both should be required if you've only seen the movie Munich. And as I mentioned in the post :03 from Gold is amazing with all of the detail surrounding 3 seconds of a basketball game.NTXCooghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10606931216258035859noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-450671078779081202.post-13573278364448244632010-08-14T11:19:40.599-05:002010-08-14T11:19:40.599-05:00Thanks for the comments.
